A Life Worth

Fighting For

“Before I formed you in your mother’s body, I chose you.
Before you were born, I set you apart to serve me.
I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:5, NIrV

Raquel sat alone on her small balcony, her hands clutching a warm mug of coffee as tears streamed down her face. At only 24 years old, she was grappling with a decision that seemed to overshadow every aspect of her life. The two pink lines on the pregnancy test had turned her world upside down.

She’d never planned for this. The father of the baby, a casual relationship she thought might turn into something more, had vanished the moment she shared the news. “I’m not ready to be a dad,” he had said bluntly before walking away. And now, Raquel found herself overwhelmed by the idea of raising a child alone.

Her friends had offered conflicting advice. “It’s your body, your choice,” one said. “You’ve got so much life ahead of you,” said another. Raquel’s mind raced with doubts. She had just started her career, had dreams of traveling, and wanted freedom. “A baby would only hold me back,” she whispered to herself.

That evening, scrolling mindlessly through social media, Raquel stumbled upon a post from an old church friend. It featured the verse from Jeremiah 1:5. “Before I formed you in your mother’s body, I chose you.” The words leapt off the screen, cutting through the fog of her thoughts.

Raquel couldn’t shake the verse from her mind. The idea that God knew her baby before she did—that this life inside her had already been chosen and set apart—stirred something deep within her.

Later that night, she knelt beside her bed for the first time in years. “God, I don’t know what to do,” she prayed, her voice trembling. “I feel so alone, so scared. But if this child is part of Your plan, please help me see the way forward. Give me the strength to trust You.”

In the following weeks, Raquel reached out to a local church group for support. She met women who shared their own stories of unexpected pregnancies, and their encouragement gave her hope. One evening, as she listened to a woman’s testimony about God’s provision, she realized something: her life wasn’t over—it was just beginning in a new and unexpected way.

Raquel decided to keep her baby. The road ahead wasn’t easy, but she no longer felt alone. She began to see her child not as a burden but as a blessing, a life chosen and loved by God before it even began.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for knowing and loving each of us before we were even born.

Today, I lift up anyone struggling with difficult decisions, especially those feeling overwhelmed and alone.

Lord, remind us of Your perfect plan for every life.

Help us trust You when the future feels uncertain.

Give us the courage to choose life, the strength to follow Your will, and the faith to believe that You provide for every need.

Just as You guided Raquel, guide us in our moments of doubt and fear.

Thank You for Your unchanging love and for the assurance that You never leave us to face life’s challenges alone.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
