You Are
Not Alone
"Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple? Don’t you know that God’s Spirit lives among you?"
1 Corinthians 3:16 (NIrV)
Faye sat on her bed, hoodie pulled over her head, fingers gripping her sleeve. Another long night. Another deep sigh. Her phone screen was the only light in the room, playing another sad playlist that made her feel even heavier. She scrolled mindlessly, not even sure what she was looking for.
Life sucked. That was the only thing that felt certain. School was a nightmare—bullies, fake smiles, teachers who didn’t get it. Home wasn’t much better. Mom was always busy. Dad barely spoke. Friends? What friends? People acted like she wasn’t even there.
She pulled up her sleeve and traced over the scars on her arm. It wasn’t about the pain—not really. It was about feeling something. Anything. About having proof that she wasn’t invisible. Maybe someone would notice. Maybe someone would care.
A message popped up on her phone. It was from Ava, a girl from school. Not someone Faye was close to, but she was always... different. Always smiling. Always saying weird stuff about God.
Ava: Hey, I don’t know why, but I felt like I should check on you. Just wanna say you’re not alone. Jesus loves you.
Faye scoffed. Jesus? Seriously? Where was He when she cried herself to sleep? Where was He when people whispered behind her back?
She started typing a sarcastic reply but stopped. Her eyes lingered on the words: You’re not alone.
Her thoughts raced. What if that was true? What if God did care?
She pulled her hoodie over her face and whispered, “God... if You’re real, if You even care... I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t want to feel like this.”
Silence.
Then, something shifted. It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t fireworks. It was just... a warmth. A tiny spark inside her, like a voice saying, You are loved. You are Mine.
For the first time in a long time, Faye didn’t feel completely alone.
Prayer:
Dear God,
I don’t always understand You.
Sometimes life feels too dark, too heavy.
But if You are here, if You love me like Your Word says... help me see it. Help me believe it.
Show me that I am more than my pain.
Thank You for reminding me that I am never alone.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
