Trusting
God’s Plan
“But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever. What he wants to do will last for all time.”
Psalm 33:11 (NIrV)
Reece zipped up his jacket against the cool morning breeze and started his usual walk to work. The streets were busy, full of people rushing about, yet Reece felt like he was moving in slow motion.
For months, he had been trying to land a promotion at the marketing firm where he worked. He put in long hours, took on extra tasks, and even helped colleagues with their projects. But yesterday, his boss announced that the position had been given to someone else.
“What’s the point?” Reece muttered under his breath as he crossed the street. His plans had seemed so perfect—work hard, get promoted, and finally have the financial stability he needed to propose to his girlfriend, Ella. But now, it felt like everything was falling apart.
As he neared the office, Reece decided to stop by the park for a moment. Sitting on a bench, he pulled out his phone and mindlessly scrolled through social media. Suddenly, he stumbled upon a verse someone had shared: “The plans of the Lord stand firm forever. What he wants to do will last for all time” (Psalm 33:11).
Reece stared at the screen. He had been so focused on his own plans that he hadn’t thought about what God might have planned for him. Was it possible that losing the promotion wasn’t the end, but a redirection?
“God, I don’t understand why this happened,” Reece whispered, closing his eyes. “But if You have a better plan for me, help me trust You.”
In the weeks that followed, Reece noticed opportunities he had overlooked before. A coworker invited him to join a new project, one that stretched his skills and introduced him to leaders in a different department. Reece began to see that the missed promotion wasn’t a dead end—it was a chance to grow in a new direction.
One evening, as he walked home, Reece felt a sense of peace he hadn’t felt in months. He smiled and thought, God’s plans really do last forever.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for reminding us that Your plans are greater than ours.
When life doesn’t go the way we expect, help us to trust that You are guiding us toward something better.
Like Reece, teach us to let go of our fears and lean into Your wisdom.
Give us patience and faith to follow Your path, even when it feels uncertain.
We know Your plans are firm and Your purposes will always prevail.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
