Seeing Others Through

God's Eyes

"So God created human beings in his own likeness. He created them to be like himself. He created them as male and female."
Genesis 1:27 (NIrV)

Sarah sat at her desk, reading the company email about the new hire. “Jordan Taylor,” it read. The email highlighted Jordan’s impressive qualifications and excitement to join the team. Sarah smiled at first but felt a jolt when she overheard coworkers whispering, “Jordan is transgender.”

Sarah’s upbringing in a Bible-believing home had taught her that God’s design for creation was clear. She believed firmly in the truth of Genesis 1:27 and didn’t agree with transgenderism. As she sat in quiet reflection, she prayed silently, Lord, how do I honor You in this situation?

When Jordan started, they were friendly and hardworking. Though Sarah struggled internally, she treated Jordan with courtesy. But she kept a polite distance, unsure of how to reconcile her convictions with showing Christ’s love.

One afternoon, Sarah noticed Jordan sitting alone in the break room, looking troubled. After some hesitation, Sarah approached them. “Everything okay?” she asked. Jordan hesitated before sharing how they often felt judged and misunderstood, even in professional spaces.

Sarah’s heart softened. Though she didn’t agree with Jordan’s choices, she saw their humanity and pain. That evening, as Sarah read her Bible, she came across Genesis 1:27 again. This time, it reminded her of something deeper: every human being is made in God’s image and deeply loved by Him, even those who make choices she couldn’t agree with.

She prayed, “Lord, help me show Jordan Your love without compromising my convictions. Teach me to reflect Your kindness and truth in a way that honors You.”

The next day, Sarah greeted Jordan warmly. Over time, she made a conscious effort to treat them with the same love and respect Jesus showed to all. She listened, supported Jordan’s professional ideas, and even shared her faith when Jordan asked why she was always kind.

Sarah realized that living out her faith meant balancing truth and grace. She didn’t have to affirm everything to love someone as Christ loved her. Through this, Sarah grew in her own walk with Jesus, learning that showing His love wasn’t about agreeing with the world but about being a light in it.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for creating each of us in Your image and for loving us unconditionally.

Help me to reflect Your love to others, even when I don’t agree with their choices.

Teach me to balance grace and truth, just as Jesus did, so I can honor You in my relationships.

Give me wisdom and courage to live out my faith in every situation.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
