Scripture: Psalms 96:1-98:9 (NIV)

In Psalms 96 to 98, we find a collection of psalms that exhort us to praise and worship God with joy and gladness. These psalms celebrate the Lord's reign, His salvation, and His faithfulness to His people. They inspire us to lift our voices in praise and adoration to the Almighty God who is worthy of all honor and glory.

Psalms 96 begins with a call to sing a new song to the Lord and to proclaim His salvation day after day. The psalmist invites the nations to declare God's glory and to worship Him in the splendor of His holiness. He emphasizes the uniqueness and greatness of God among all the gods, urging all creation to tremble before Him. This psalm reminds us of the importance of declaring God's greatness to the world and inviting others to join in worshiping Him.

One important verse from this passage is found in:

Psalm 96:8 (NIV):

"Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts."

This verse highlights the call to give God the honor and glory that He deserves. It reminds us that worship is not merely an act of singing songs or offering sacrifices, but a heart attitude of reverence and adoration toward God. As we come into His presence, we are called to offer our lives as a living sacrifice, giving Him the glory that is due His name.

Psalms 97 continues the theme of praising God for His reign and His righteousness. The psalmist declares that the Lord reigns supreme over all the earth and that His righteousness is like a blazing fire, consuming His enemies. He calls the righteous to rejoice in the Lord and to give thanks for His holiness. This psalm reminds us that God's righteousness will ultimately prevail over evil, and He will bring salvation and deliverance to His people.

Psalms 98 is a hymn of praise celebrating God's victory and salvation. The psalmist calls on all creation to sing a new song to the Lord, for He has done marvelous things. He rejoices in God's faithfulness to His people and His power to bring salvation to the ends of the earth. This psalm serves as a reminder that God is actively at work in the world, bringing about redemption and restoration. It calls us to join in the chorus of praise and to proclaim His salvation to all nations.

As we reflect on Psalms 96 to 98, let us be inspired to sing a new song of praise to the Lord. May we declare His glory to the nations and rejoice in His salvation. And may our lives be a testimony to His faithfulness and righteousness, as we worship Him with all our hearts.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your greatness and Your faithfulness to Your people. Help us to ascribe to You the glory due Your name and to worship You with all our hearts.

May our lives be a reflection of Your righteousness and love, as we proclaim Your salvation to the world.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
