Leading

with Wisdom

"Without guidance a nation falls. But many good advisers can bring victory."
Proverbs 11:14 (NIrV)

Sandy took a deep breath as she stepped into the town hall. The energy in the room was tense—half the crowd wore red pins, the other half blue. As an independent politician, she was used to this division. But she had never gotten used to the hostility, the way people refused to listen to each other.

She hadn’t entered politics for power or recognition. She had stepped into this world because she believed people could work together for the common good. She believed that no one side had all the answers, and that true wisdom came from listening to many voices.

But not everyone saw it that way.

"Sandy, you need to pick a side," her campaign manager had told her last week. "You’re trying to bring both parties together, but they see you as weak. They don’t trust someone who won’t fully commit to their camp."

Her heart had sunk at those words. Was she wasting her time? The media dismissed her as naive, and political insiders saw her as an obstacle rather than a bridge. Even some of her supporters had begun to lose faith, telling her she needed to fight harder, not find common ground.

That night, she had sat alone in her office, staring at the city lights through her window. She had bowed her head and whispered, “Lord, am I wrong for believing we can come together? Should I give up?”

The next morning, she had read Proverbs 11:14 in her devotional. "Without guidance a nation falls. But many good advisers can bring victory."

It was as if God Himself had spoken directly to her heart. She realized she had been carrying this burden alone, trying to fix everything herself. But she didn’t have to. True leadership didn’t mean having all the answers—it meant surrounding yourself with wise, honest people who could help guide the way.

And so, today, as she looked over the divided room, she felt a renewed sense of purpose. “I know we won’t always agree,” she began, “but if we let wisdom—not pride—guide us, we can create something better. Let’s not lead with ego or fear, but with truth and understanding.”

Some people nodded. Others crossed their arms. But Sandy saw a few of the hardest skeptics lean in just a little. It was a small start, but she knew God was with her, guiding her through the noise.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the ultimate source of wisdom.

In a world filled with division, help me to seek guidance from You and from wise, trustworthy people.

Give me the courage to stand for what is right, even when the path is difficult.

Let my words bring unity, not division, and my actions reflect Your love.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
