The Only
Way
“You can’t be saved by believing in anyone else. God has given people no other name under heaven that will save them.”
Acts 4:12 (NIrV)
Heather had always believed in God, but she never felt certain about what came next. Heaven, eternity—was she truly on the right path? She had tried to be a good person, had done her best to help others, but deep down, there was an unsettling doubt. What if being “good” wasn’t enough?
One evening, while scrolling online, she stumbled upon a video of a pastor reading from Acts 4:12. “Salvation comes through Jesus alone,” he said, looking straight into the camera. “Not through good deeds, not through religion—only through faith in Him. Say it with your lips, believe it in your heart, and you will be saved.”
The words struck her like lightning. Had she ever truly confessed Jesus as Lord? Had she spoken it out loud? She shut her laptop, her heart racing. Kneeling beside her bed, she whispered, “Jesus, I believe in You. I accept You as my Savior. You are the only way.”
As soon as the words left her lips, an unexplainable peace washed over her. The doubt that had plagued her for years disappeared. It was so simple. It had always been so simple—just Jesus.
The next day, she visited her elderly parents. They had gone to church occasionally but had never really talked about faith. Sitting with them at the kitchen table, she shared her experience. “Mom, Dad… have you ever actually said it? That Jesus is your Savior?”
Her mother hesitated, her eyes softening. “I’ve always believed in God, sweetheart.”
“But have you said it?” Heather pressed gently. “Romans 10:9 says if we declare with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, we will be saved.”
Her father cleared his throat. “You really think it’s that important?”
Heather reached for their hands. “I know it is.”
In the quiet of the kitchen, her parents joined her in prayer, whispering the name of Jesus as Lord. Heather squeezed their hands, tears in her eyes. She had found salvation—and now, so had they.
Prayer:
Jesus, You are the only way to salvation.
Thank You for opening my heart to this truth.
Help me to share this gift with those I love, so they, too, may know the peace of Your salvation.
Let me never hesitate to proclaim Your name, knowing that in You alone is eternal life.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
